PRINCIPLES
NO BATTLE TIMER REQUIRED.
- The MC may cut an excessively long intervention for flow or safety, but there is no official duration in seconds.
- The official unit is ACTION + RESPONSE = EXCHANGE.
- You battle the performance, never a person's dignity.
- Start with what you have. Professionalise as you grow.
AGE DIVISIONS
OFFICIAL WABF AGE DIVISIONS
5–12
Children
Ages 5 to 12.
13–17
Youth
Ages 13 to 17.
18+
Adults
Ages 18 and over.
- In competitions using the official WABF standard, each participant competes within their own age division. Divisions are not mixed.
- Organizers may use WABF tools with custom age ranges, but custom ranges do not replace the official divisions.
- Introductory activity: For under 5s. A non-competitive aura battle session, with no official competition or bracket.
EXCHANGE FORMAT
ACTION: an expressive intervention by a competitor or team. RESPONSE: the opponent's answer. EXCHANGE = one action + one response.
- The initiating side alternates every exchange: E1 A→B, E2 B→A, E3 A→B...
- The organizer picks the number of exchanges before the event: 5 / 7 / 10 (recommended 10) or a custom number.
- The battle ends when the configured exchanges are completed.
- Tie-break: SUDDEN AURA — 2 extra exchanges (Extra 1: A starts; Extra 2: B starts).
- Start: greeting + coin toss or random start.
SOLO BATTLE 1 VS 1
Two participants alternate actions and responses. The initiating side changes every exchange. The organizer sets the number of exchanges before starting.
See full rulesDUO BATTLE 2 VS 2
Two teams of two participants alternate actions and responses. Both members must take a meaningful part throughout the battle.
See full rulesJUDGING AND SCORING
Each judge scores 0 to 10 per criterion: aura and presence, creativity and battle IQ; teamwork is added in duo battles. Three judges are recommended to avoid ties.
See full rulesPUBLIC VOTING
The audience can vote from a phone using a room code or QR code. No app or account is required. The organizer may use public voting as the main method for simple events, or combine it with judges and crowd reaction in advanced events.

The website can compare the crowd's sound reaction for each side. The same device, position and conditions must be used for both participants or teams. Browser-based measurement is relative and does not replace a professional sound level meter.

THE BATTLE IS AGAINST THE PERFORMANCE, NOT AGAINST THE PERSON.
- Clearly marked battle zone, flat, non-slip floor.
- Safety space around the zone and audience outside the movement area.
- Clear access for staff and first aid.
PENALTIES
ACCIDENTAL CONTACT
The person leading the judging panel (Head Judge) assesses the context: intent, severity and consequence. It does not mean automatic disqualification. It may need no sanction at all, or just a verbal warning.
DELIBERATE / AGGRESSIVE CONTACT
Pushing, hitting, grabbing, blocking or invading with intent to harm or intimidate: sanctioned according to severity, up to a red card and immediate disqualification.
VERBAL WARNING
Minor, unintentional or low-impact conduct.
YELLOW CARD
Conduct clearly against the rules. Two yellows: disqualification.
RED CARD
Immediate disqualification: violence, serious deliberate contact, threats, discrimination, harassment, weapons, drugs, alcohol or refusing to obey the person leading the judging panel (Head Judge).
We do not over-regulate minor mistakes: most accidental contact needs no sanction. Final decision: the person leading the judging panel (Head Judge) or the competition director.
TOURNAMENT ORGANIZATION
- With few competitors, everyone battles everyone; with more, it moves to elimination brackets.
- Result method declared before starting: community mode (crowd vote) or WABF official mode.
- Exchange count announced before the event.
- A greeting is mandatory before and after every battle.
Bracket formats (advanced)
Round Robin (everyone vs everyone) for small groups, single elimination up to 16 entrants, or a qualifier + Top 16 for large events.
CHANGE HISTORY
Current version: v1.0
Effective date: September 3, 2026
A version is never replaced without keeping the history. Every event must record which rulebook version it used.
